To dissipate heat from its high-wattage APU, Sony implemented liquid metal as the thermal interface material rather than traditional silicone paste.
While the PlayStation 5 delivers high performance, its internal layout and thermal strategy create specific mechanical and electrical failure patterns over time. One of the most common hardware failures involves the HDMI 2.1 port, where cable strain, accidental tugs, or drops cause bent internal pins or severed surface-mount solder pads on the motherboard.
