Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the watch
1 minPress and hold the crown button on the Pixel Watch until the power menu appears. Select 'Power off' and allow the device to turn off completely.
- 2
Remove the watch bands
1 minPress the band release button on the side of the watch body. Slide the band strap sideways to detach it from the watch casing, then repeat for the second band.
- 3
Heat the display perimeter
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the curved outer edges of the glass for 2 to 3 minutes. Keep the temperature low to avoid damaging the OLED panel.
- 4
Attach a suction handle
1 minPlace a small suction cup onto the center of the display glass. Press down firmly to create a secure vacuum seal.
- 5
Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction handle to create a tiny gap between the glass and the aluminum frame. Slide a thin opening pick into the gap.
- 6
Slice the screen adhesive
3 minSlowly guide the opening pick around the circumference of the screen. Take care not to insert the pick deeper than 2 millimeters to avoid internal component damage.
- 7
Pry open the display assembly
2 minGently hinge the top edge of the glass display away from the watch body. Do not pull the screen off completely, as delicate ribbon cables remain connected.
- 8
Unscrew the connector bracket screw
2 minLocate the small metal bracket covering the display flex cable connection. Remove the single retention screw using a precision screwdriver.
- 9
Remove the connector bracket
1 minUse fine curved tweezers to lift the small metal bracket off the motherboard and set it aside safely.
- 10
Disconnect the display cable
1 minUse the flat edge of a plastic spudger to gently pop the display flex cable press-connector straight up from its socket.
- 11
Remove the old screen assembly
1 minLift the entire screen assembly free from the watch body and clear your workspace of old components.
- 12
Clean the housing rim
4 minDip a lint-free cloth in 99% isopropyl alcohol and clean off all old adhesive residue along the aluminum frame ledge.
- 13
Apply pre-cut screen adhesive
4 minPeel the backing off the replacement display adhesive strip and carefully lay it onto the cleaned edge of the watch housing.
- 14
Connect the replacement screen flex cable
2 minPosition the new screen over the casing and press the display flex cable connector directly into its socket on the motherboard until it clicks.
- 15
Reinstall the metal bracket
1 minPlace the connector retention bracket back over the display cable connection using tweezers.
- 16
Tighten the bracket screw
1 minThread and tighten the small retention screw using your precision driver to lock the bracket in place.
- 17
Press the replacement display into place
2 minPeel away the top protective film from the adhesive ring, align the glass assembly carefully, and press down around the edges for 30 seconds to seal.
After your Google Pixel Watch screen replacement
Power the Pixel Watch back on and test the screen replacement function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this Google Pixel Watch job before assuming the part is defective. Keep leftover adhesive and screws labeled in case you need a second pass.
