Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Detach watch bands
1 minPress the band release button on the side of the watch body. Slide the band outward to detach it from the watch case.
- 2
Power down the device
1 minPress and hold the crown button until the power menu appears on screen. Tap Power Off and wait until the screen goes completely dark.
- 3
Heat display edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or low-temp heat gun to the front display for two minutes. This softens the perimeter waterproof adhesive.
- 4
Attach suction handle
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the center of the watch screen. Press down firmly and engage the suction lever to lock it in place.
- 5
Create display gap
2 minPull upward on the suction cup to create a small gap along the screen seam. Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap no deeper than 2 mm.
- 6
Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the plastic pick around the entire circumference of the glass display. Carefully cut through all remaining screen adhesive.
- 7
Lift screen assembly
2 minGently hinge the top edge of the display open like a book. Take care not to pull or strain the ribbon cable underneath.
- 8
Remove display bracket screw
2 minUse a T2 Torx screwdriver to remove the single screw securing the display cable bracket. Keep track of this small screw for reassembly.
- 9
Disconnect display flex cable
2 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the display connector straight up from its socket. Separate the screen from the watch body.
- 10
Remove battery bracket screw
2 minUnscrew the T2 Torx screw holding the metal battery retainer plate in place. Lift the metal bracket out with tweezers.
- 11
Disconnect battery flex cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up off the motherboard using a plastic spudger. Never use metal tools around battery terminals.
- 12
Pry out original battery
3 minApply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol around the battery edges to dissolve the glue. Work a flat plastic card under the battery to carefully lever it up.
- 13
Clean adhesive residue
3 minWipe away old adhesive strips from the housing using a lint-free swab dipped in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol. Allow the case to air-dry completely.
- 14
Apply battery adhesive
2 minPeel the backing from the replacement battery adhesive strip. Stick the adhesive firmly into the bottom of the battery compartment.
- 15
Seat replacement battery
2 minAlign the new battery into the housing and press it down onto the adhesive. Connect the battery flex cable into the motherboard socket until it clicks.
- 16
Reattach display assembly
3 minAlign the display cable connector over its socket and snap it into place. Replace the metal cable bracket and tighten its T2 Torx screw.
- 17
Reseal display glass
3 minPosition a pre-cut replacement display adhesive strip around the frame rim. Align the display glass and press firmly around all edges to re-establish the seal.
After your Google Pixel Watch battery replacement
Power the Pixel Watch back on and test the battery replacement function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this Google Pixel Watch job before assuming the part is defective. Keep leftover adhesive and screws labeled in case you need a second pass.
