Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Detach the watch bands
1 minPress the band release buttons on the underside of the watch casing. Slide both watch bands outward to remove them from the body.
- 2
Heat the display adhesive
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the perimeter of the front glass for two minutes. This softens the watertight adhesive securing the screen.
- 3
Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a small suction cup onto the center of the display screen. Press down firmly to create a seal, then pull up gently to create a slight gap at the seam.
- 4
Insert an opening pick
2 minInsert the thin tip of a plastic opening pick into the gap between the glass display and the body casing. Do not insert the pick deeper than 2 mm.
- 5
Slice the perimeter seal
3 minSlide the opening pick around the entire outer seam to cut through the display adhesive. Keep the pick shallow to avoid damaging delicate flex cables.
- 6
Pry up the screen assembly
2 minGently lift the display up from the right side, opening it like a book. Do not pull the screen away entirely, as it remains attached by a ribbon cable.
- 7
Remove the connector bracket
1 minUse fine-tip tweezers to lift off the small metal shield covering the display cable connector on the mainboard.
- 8
Disconnect the display cable
1 minPry the display flex cable straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger. Set the display assembly aside.
- 9
Unscrew the internal frame screws
2 minUse a T2 Torx screwdriver to remove the small screws holding down the internal metal mainboard shield.
- 10
Remove the internal shield
1 minLift the internal metal shield out of the watch casing using tweezers to expose the battery assembly.
- 11
Disconnect the battery cable
1 minInsert the flat end of a plastic spudger beneath the battery connector. Lever it straight up from the motherboard to disconnect power.
- 12
Soak the battery adhesive
2 minApply a few drops of 90%+ isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery cell. Wait two minutes for the liquid to soften the underlying adhesive.
- 13
Pry up the battery
3 minSlide a flat plastic opening pick beneath the edge of the battery cell. Carefully lever the battery upward without bending or puncturing it.
- 14
Remove the battery cell
1 minLift the depleted battery cell out of the casing using tweezers. Set it aside safely for proper recycling.
- 15
Clean the housing frame
2 minScrape away old adhesive residue from the inner casing using a plastic spudger moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
- 16
Install the new battery
2 minApply new battery adhesive strips to the recess, then press the replacement battery firmly into position inside the watch body.
