Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power Down Tablet
1 minPress and hold the power and volume down buttons, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.
- 2
Heat Screen Perimeter
3 minApply heat to the front edges of the display with a heat gun for 2 to 3 minutes. Keep the heat gun moving continuously to soften the perimeter adhesive without scorching the panel.
- 3
Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a heavy-duty suction cup firmly onto the top edge of the front glass screen.
- 4
Insert Opening Pick
2 minPull upward on the suction cup handle to create a tiny seam between the glass and frame. Insert the tip of a thin opening pick into the gap.
- 5
Slice Top Adhesive
2 minSlowly slide the opening pick across the top edge of the tablet to cut through the adhesive. Insert the pick no deeper than 3 millimeters to avoid damaging underlying sensors.
- 6
Slice Right Edge Adhesive
3 minReheat the right side of the screen and work your pick down the seam toward the bottom corner.
- 7
Slice Bottom Edge Adhesive
3 minGuide the pick smoothly across the bottom display edge to free the lower adhesive layer.
- 8
Slice Left Edge Adhesive
3 minFinish slicing along the left side of the tablet glass until all border adhesive is completely separated.
- 9
Lift Display Assembly
2 minGently lift the right side of the screen panel like opening a book cover. Do not force or completely pull the screen away yet, as flex cables are still connected on the left.
- 10
Unscrew Shield Bracket
2 minLocate the metal cable cover on the mainboard assembly. Remove the two Phillips screws securing the connector shield using a precision screwdriver.
- 11
Remove Connector Shield
1 minUse precision tweezers to lift and remove the metal shield bracket from the motherboard.
- 12
Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minInsert a plastic spudger beneath the battery flex cable connector and pry it straight up to disconnect electrical power.
- 13
Disconnect Display Cable
1 minPry up the main display flex cable connector from its socket on the motherboard using a plastic spudger.
- 14
Free Screen Assembly
1 minLift the old display assembly clear from the aluminum chassis and set it aside.
- 15
Clean Frame Perimeter
5 minScrape off all old adhesive residue along the frame bezel using a plastic prying tool and high-purity isopropyl alcohol.
- 16
Dry Frame Bezel
2 minWipe the interior perimeter of the frame with a lint-free microfiber cloth to remove dust and leftover solvent.
- 17
Apply Pre-Cut Adhesive
4 minAlign and press fresh pre-cut adhesive tape along the top, bottom, and side ledges of the tablet frame.
- 18
Peel Adhesive Backing
1 minUse tweezers to peel off the top protective backing film from all the installed adhesive strips.
- 19
Connect New Display Cable
2 minPosition the new screen assembly near the tablet frame and press its display flex cable firmly into the motherboard socket.
- 20
Reconnect Battery Cable
1 minAlign and snap the battery flex cable connector back onto its press fit motherboard socket.
- 21
Reinstall Connector Shield
1 minPlace the metal protective shield back over the display and battery cable connections.
- 22
Secure Shield Screws
2 minDrive the two original Phillips screws back into the connector shield to hold the cables in place.
- 23
Align Screen Assembly
2 minCarefully align the corners and edges of the new glass screen with the outer bezel of the tablet chassis.
- 24
Press Screen into Place
2 minPress down firmly along all four outer edges of the glass to lock the screen to the fresh adhesive strips.
