   Heat Display Edges

   Apply heat using a heat gun around the perimeter of the screen for two minutes to soften the frame adhesive. Keep the heat moving continuously to prevent damaging the display.

   Attach Suction Cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower edge of the display panel. Pull upward on the handle to create a narrow gap between the glass screen and the frame.

   Slice Display Adhesive

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slide the pick along the perimeter to slice through the adhesive tape.

   Lift Screen Assembly

   Gently hinge the screen open from the right edge like a book page. Do not attempt to detach the screen entirely yet, as fragile flex ribbon cables remain attached.

   Disconnect Display Cable

   Use a plastic spudger to pry off the small metal shield covering the display cable socket. Pop the display flex cable press-connector directly up from the motherboard.

   Disconnect Battery Cable

   Locate the main battery connector near the middle of the motherboard. Pry the battery press-fit connector straight up to isolate power to the device.

   Unscrew Button Bracket

   Locate the metal retention bracket over the interior volume and power button contacts. Remove the securing Phillips screws using a precision screwdriver.

   Disconnect Button Flex Cable

   Use a plastic spudger to flip open the ZIF connector locking lever on the motherboard. Slide the ribbon cable out of the socket using tweezers.

   Remove Old Button Flex Assembly

   Peel the button flex cable away from the inner wall of the aluminum chassis with tweezers. Lift the assembly out of the device.

    Position New Button Cable

    Align the replacement power and volume flex cable with the internal side wall slot. Press the switches firmly against the physical frame buttons.

    Secure Metal Button Bracket

    Reposition the metal securing bracket directly over the new button contact assembly. Tighten the Phillips screws until snug to hold the switches in place.

    Connect Button Ribbon Cable

    Insert the button flex ribbon into the open ZIF motherboard socket using fine tweezers. Flip the plastic ZIF locking latch down to lock the cable in place.

    Reconnect Battery Cable

    Align the battery flex connector over its motherboard socket. Press down firmly on the connector until it clicks into place.

    Apply Display Adhesive Strips

    Clean off remaining old adhesive from the frame edges using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Apply pre-cut display adhesive strips evenly around the perimeter.

    Align the display flex cable over its motherboard socket and press firmly down to connect it. Reinstall the metal shield cover plate.

    Align the screen assembly precisely over the frame edge. Lower the glass onto the adhesive and press around all four edges to create a solid seal.
