   Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

   Heat the outer display edges

   Use a heat gun on low setting to warm the outer perimeter of the glass display for two minutes. This softens the strong adhesive holding the screen to the frame.

   Attach a suction handle near the glass edge

   Place a suction cup on the lower glass assembly near the USB-C port. Press down firmly to create a secure vacuum seal.

   Slice the bottom display adhesive

   Pull up on the suction handle to create a small gap, then insert a guitar pick under the glass. Slide the pick along the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive.

   Slice around the remaining display perimeter

   Insert additional opening picks as you slide along the left, top, and right edges of the screen. Keep picks shallow to avoid damaging delicate ribbon cables.

   Pivot open the display

   Gently lift the top edge of the display and pivot it up from the chassis like a book cover. Do not pull the screen completely away, as flex cables remain connected.

   Unscrew the display cable shield

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal bracket over the display flex cable connector.

   Remove the display cable shield

   Use tweezers to lift and remove the metal retaining bracket covering the display connector.

   Disconnect the display flex cable

   Use the flat edge of a plastic spudger to gently pry the display connector straight up from its motherboard socket. Set the screen aside.

    Locate the battery flex connector on the motherboard. Pry it directly upward with a plastic spudger to cut power to the board.

    Remove the interconnect flex cable

    Disconnect and unroute the ribbon cable spanning across the top of the battery pack using a plastic spudger.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol under the battery

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the battery edges. Allow one minute for the liquid to dissolve the factory glue.

    Pry up the old battery

    Slide a plastic opening card under the side of the battery cell. Slowly lever up to break the remaining adhesive bonds underneath.

    Lift out the old battery

    Lift the battery out of the chassis once fully unsealed. Avoid using sharp metal tools or bending the battery cell.

    Clean the battery cavity

    Wipe down the recessed metal battery cavity with an alcohol-dampened cloth to remove residual glue. Ensure the surface is dry before continuing.

    Apply replacement battery adhesive

    Peel the backing off new adhesive strips and press them flat into the floor of the battery compartment.

    Install the new battery

    Lower the replacement battery into the frame recess, aligning its connector near the motherboard socket. Press down firmly to seat it onto the adhesive.

    Reconnect the interconnect flex cable

    Realign the main interconnect ribbon cable over the battery and press its press connectors into place until they snap onto the boards.

    Reconnect the battery flex cable

    Align the battery connector over its motherboard socket and press straight down until it clicks.

    Secure the display flex cable and shield

    Press the display flex cable into its motherboard socket, place the metal shield on top, and tighten its screws.

    Apply new display perimeter adhesive

    Lay pre-cut adhesive strips along the frame perimeter. Remove the protective film backing before reattaching the display.

    Press the display onto the chassis

    Align the screen assembly precisely over the frame and press firmly around all edges to seat the adhesive securely.
