Step-by-step

Power off the tablet

Insert an opening pick into the seam
2 minPry a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the front glass bezel and the rear plastic cover near a corner.

Unclip the rear cover
3 minSlide the pick around the entire perimeter of the tablet to pop the plastic retaining clips free.

Remove the rear cover
1 minLift the rear plastic cover straight off the chassis and set it aside.

Disconnect the battery
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Remove the button metal bracket
3 minUnscrew the Phillips #00 screws securing the small metal bracket over the power and volume button switches.

Unlock the button ZIF connector
1 minUse tweezers to flip up the small locking flap on the button flex cable's ribbon connector.

Peel up the button flex cable
3 minSlide a flat spudger under the button assembly flex cable to break the adhesive holding it to the frame.

Set the replacement button flex cable
2 minPosition the new button flex cable onto the housing pegs and press down gently on the adhesive backing.

Secure the button ribbon cable
2 minInsert the flex cable tip into the ZIF socket on the motherboard and flip the locking lever down to lock it.

Reinstall the metal bracket
2 minPlace the metal bracket back over the button switches and tighten the Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect the battery
1 minAlign the battery connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

Snap the rear cover on
2 minAlign the rear cover with the frame and squeeze around all edges until every clip snaps shut.
