Step-by-step

Power off the device

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM card slot on the left frame to pop out the tray.

Heat the rear panel
3 minApply a heat gun or heated iOpener around the outer edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the glue.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull up firmly to create a slight gap.

Slice through the adhesive
4 minInsert an opening pick into the gap and slide it slowly along all edges of the rear cover to separate it.

2 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the blue and white coaxial antenna cable heads off the lower daughterboard.

Remove the sub-board screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw holding the lower daughterboard to the phone frame.

Pry up the old microphone sub-board
2 minGently insert the plastic spudger underneath the sub-board and lift it out of its housing groove.

Position the new microphone sub-board
2 minSet the replacement daughterboard equipped with the new primary microphone flush into the frame recess.

Secure the sub-board screw
1 minReinstall the Phillips #00 screw to anchor the sub-board firmly to the frame.

Reconnect coaxial cables
2 minAlign and press the coaxial cable connectors onto their respective surface mounts on the new sub-board.

Attach the interconnect flex cable
2 minSnap the main flex cable connectors back down onto the daughterboard and mainboard sockets.
