   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power and volume down buttons, then select Power Off on the screen.

   Remove the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the tray and press firmly to eject it.

   Heat the rear cover

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the back cover for two minutes.

   Insert an opening pick

   Attach a suction handle near the bottom edge, pull upward, and slide a pick under the seam.

   Slice rear cover adhesive

   Slide the plastic pick along all sides of the back panel to separate the adhesive.

   Remove the back cover

   Lift the rear cover straight up from the frame and place it aside.

   Unscrew motherboard cover

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the ten screws securing the top motherboard bracket.

   Remove upper motherboard cover

   Pry up the top plastic bracket using a spudger and lift it off the motherboard.

   Unscrew loudspeaker assembly

   Remove the six Phillips #00 screws holding the loudspeaker module at the bottom.

    Remove loudspeaker assembly

    Insert the flat end of a spudger beneath the loudspeaker and lift it out of the chassis.

    Disconnect battery cable

    Use a plastic spudger to snap the battery press connector off the motherboard socket.

    Disconnect interconnect cables

    Pry up the two main interconnect flex cables connected to the top motherboard and sub-board.

    Apply adhesive remover

    Dispense a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery.

    Wait for adhesive to soften

    Let the isopropyl alcohol sit for two minutes to dissolve the underlying battery glue.

    Pry up the battery

    Slide a plastic opening card under the battery side and slowly lever it out of its housing.

    Remove old battery

    Lift the battery out of the recess while ensuring you do not bend or puncture it.

    Clean battery compartment

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery well using isopropyl alcohol and a cloth.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Peel the protective backing off new adhesive strips and stick them into the battery compartment.

    Install new battery

    Lower the replacement battery into place and press firmly down to lock it into the adhesive.

    Reconnect flex cables

    Press the interconnect flex cables and battery connector firmly onto their sockets until they click.

    Reinstall loudspeaker assembly

    Position the loudspeaker module over the lower board and press down to snap it into place.

    Secure loudspeaker screws

    Replace and tighten the six Phillips #00 screws on the loudspeaker module.

    Reinstall motherboard cover

    Place the upper plastic bracket onto the top frame and snap its clips into position.

    Secure motherboard cover screws

    Fasten the ten Phillips #00 screws into the upper motherboard cover to lock it in place.

    Attach back cover

    Apply new precut adhesive to the rear frame, align the cover, and press firmly along the border.

    Reinsert SIM tray

    Push the SIM card tray back into its slot until it sits flush with the frame.
