Step-by-step

Power off device and remove SIM tray
2 minPress and hold the power button to turn off the phone completely. Insert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the bottom edge to pop out the SIM tray.

Heat the rear glass cover
3 minApply a heat gun on low heat around the edges of the rear panel for two minutes to soften the adhesive seal.

Attach suction cup and create a gap
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull upward firmly. Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap created between the glass and frame.

Slice through the rear adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four sides of the phone to slice through the adhesive seal. Reapply heat if the pick meets resistance.

Separate the back cover
1 minCarefully lift the back glass panel off the chassis. Set the back panel aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the lower speaker housing
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the loudspeaker assembly at the bottom of the device.

Remove the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the edge of the loudspeaker assembly and pry up gently. Lift the module out to expose the lower sub-board.

Disconnect the interconnect flex cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to snap the main interconnect flex cable off its connector on the sub-board.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cables
2 minUse tweezers to carefully unsnap the small white and black antenna coaxial connectors from the daughterboard.

Remove the sub-board retaining screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips screw securing the sub-board containing the primary microphone to the phone frame.

Pry out the faulty sub-board
2 minWedge a flat spudger under the sub-board and lift it carefully out of its housing recess.

Position the new microphone sub-board
2 minPlace the replacement sub-board into the bottom chassis recess and press gently until it sits flush.

Secure the sub-board and reattach cables
3 minTighten the retaining screw, then snap the coaxial cables and main flex connector back onto the new board.

Reinstall the loudspeaker assembly
3 minPlace the loudspeaker cover back into position and drive all Phillips screws firmly into the housing.

Clean and reapply back cover adhesive
4 minScrape away old adhesive from the metal frame using isopropyl alcohol, then apply new pre-cut adhesive strips along the perimeter.

Reattach back cover and insert SIM tray
2 minAlign the rear glass cover on the phone frame and press down along the edges to seal it. Push the SIM card tray back into its slot.
