   Power down the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off to completely turn off the device.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole at the bottom edge and push firmly to pop out the tray.

   Heat the rear cover

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass cover and press down firmly to create a seal.

   Create an opening gap

   Pull up on the suction handle to create a tiny gap between the back cover and the frame, then insert an opening pick.

   Slice the side adhesive

   Slide the opening pick carefully along the left and right edges to cut through the perimeter adhesive tape.

   Slice the top adhesive

   Slide the pick across the upper edge of the phone, being careful around the camera housing area.

   Lift off the rear glass

   Gently lift the back cover straight up from the chassis and place it in a safe, clean spot.

   Unscrew the upper frame

   Use a Phillips PH00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper motherboard cover and wireless charging coil.

    Remove the wireless coil shield

    Use a spudger to gently unclip the plastic midframe shield along with the attached wireless charging coil.

    Disconnect the battery press connector

    Pry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard using the flat end of a plastic spudger.

    Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly

    Remove the Phillips screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the frame.

    Remove the loudspeaker

    Insert a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker assembly and lift it out of the chassis.

    Disconnect the interconnect cables

    Pry up the press connectors for the main display and sub-board interconnect cables that run over the battery.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery to weaken the glue.

    Release the adhesive pull-tabs

    Peel back the clear pull-tab film flaps from the sides of the battery pack.

    Pry out the battery

    Insert a plastic opening card under the battery and lever it upward until the adhesive releases completely.

    Clean the chassis frame

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery cavity using a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Place fresh pre-cut adhesive strips into the battery compartment and remove the protective backing film.

    Position the new battery

    Set the new battery into the cavity and press down firmly across its surface to secure it to the frame.

    Reconnect the ribbon cables

    Attach the display interconnect cables and the main battery flex connector to their motherboard sockets.

    Reinstall the internal shields

    Reposition the loudspeaker and upper motherboard shield, then tighten all saved Phillips screws.

    Apply new back cover adhesive

    Apply new custom perimeter adhesive strips to the frame edge, press the rear cover firmly in place, and seal.
