Power Off the Console
1 minPress and hold the power button for three seconds, select Power Options, and turn off the device completely.

Eject the MicroSD Card
1 minOpen the rear kickstand and press down on the microSD card until it clicks, then pull it out of the slot.

Remove Rear Tri-Wing Screws
3 minUse a Y00 tri-wing driver to remove the four screws located on the corners of the back cover.

Remove Perimeter Phillips Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 driver to remove the top screw, bottom screws, and the single screw hidden under the kickstand.

Remove Side Rail Screws
2 minRemove the center screw from both the left and right Joy-Con rail tracks using a Phillips #00 driver.

Detach the Back Housing
2 minPry gently along the seam with a plastic opening tool to detach and remove the rear cover.

2 minInsert the edge of a plastic spudger beneath the battery connector lead and pry straight up to kill power.

Unscrew the Copper Heatsink
2 minRemove the three Phillips #00 screws securing the thermal heat pipe over the processor.

Remove the Copper Heatsink
2 minLift the copper heat pipe off the motherboard to break the thermal paste bond.

Disconnect Component Flex Cables
4 minFlip open the locking ZIF flaps and gently pull out the display, digitizer, and game reader ribbon cables.

Disconnect Speaker and Rail Cables
3 minUnplug the left and right Joy-Con rail connectors and both speaker plugs from the motherboard.

Remove Motherboard Screws
3 minRemove the six Phillips #00 screws securing the motherboard to the lower plastic shell.

5 minApply hot air until the pin solder flows, then hand-solder the structural anchor legs to secure the port firmly.
