Eject MicroSD Card
2 minPower down your Nintendo Switch OLED completely. Open the kickstand and press down on the MicroSD card until it clicks, then pull it out.

Remove Rear Tri-Point Screws
3 minUse a Y00 tri-point screwdriver to remove the four screws located at each corner of the back panel.

Remove Frame Perimeter Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the single screw on the top edge and the two screws on the bottom edge.

Remove Side Rail Screws
3 minRemove the center Phillips #00 screw located on each side joy-con rail.

Remove Kickstand Area Screws
2 minFlip open the kickstand fully to reveal and remove the two Phillips #00 screws near the card slot.

Remove Back Cover
2 minGently lift the plastic back cover off the chassis starting from the top edge and set it aside.

Disconnect MicroSD Card Reader
2 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the MicroSD card reader connector straight up from the motherboard.

Remove MicroSD Card Reader
1 minLift the MicroSD card reader board straight up off its alignment post and remove it from the console.

Remove Metal Shield Screws
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the six screws securing the large metal heat shield.

Remove Metal Shield Plate
2 minLift the metal heat shield plate up from the body, minding the thermal foam attached underneath.

Disconnect Battery Cable
2 minInsert the edge of a plastic spudger under the battery cable connector and lift straight up off the motherboard.

Apply Isopropyl Alcohol
3 minApply a few drops of high-purity isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery to soften the strong adhesive.

Pry Out Defective Battery
5 minInsert a plastic opening pick under the battery edge and slowly lever it upward until the adhesive releases. Never use metal tools.

Clean Battery Well Residue
3 minWipe away remaining adhesive residue in the battery compartment using a microfiber cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply Adhesive Strips
2 minPeel the protective backing from new battery adhesive strips and lay them flat into the battery well.

Install Replacement Battery
2 minAlign the replacement battery into the battery well and press down firmly to secure it to the adhesive.

Connect Battery Cable
2 minAlign the battery connector over motherboard socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.
