Pry Open Back Casing
3 minInsert an opening pick into the seam between the front and rear housing. Slide the pick along the edge to disengage the plastic clips.

Remove MicroSD Card Reader
3 minUnscrew the single Phillips #00 screw securing the microSD card reader board. Pry up its press-fit connector to lift the board free.

Unscrew Metal Shield Plate
3 minRemove the four Phillips #00 screws holding the silver metal shield plate to the inner chassis.

Remove Heatsink Shield
2 minCarefully lift the silver metal shield plate off the console to expose the motherboard and battery.

Disconnect Battery Cable
2 minInsert the flat end of a plastic spudger beneath the battery connector and pry it straight up from the motherboard socket.

Remove Copper Heatsink
4 minRemove the three Phillips screws securing the copper heatsink pipe. Carefully lift the heatsink off the CPU.

Disconnect Motherboard Ribbons
5 minUse tweezers or a spudger to flip open the ZIF retention flaps and disconnect the display, digitizer, and speaker ribbon cables.

Remove Mainboard Screws
4 minRemove all remaining Phillips #00 screws securing the main motherboard to the plastic housing.

Extract Main Logic Board
3 minGently lift the motherboard out of the lower chassis, taking care not to snag any remaining thin cables.

Desolder Defective USB-C Port
10 minApply soldering flux to the port pins and mounting legs. Heat the pins evenly using a hot air rework station set to 350°C and gently lift off the damaged port.

Clean Solder Pads
5 minApply fresh flux and run desoldering wick over the motherboard pads with a soldering iron to clear residual solder. Wipe clean with isopropyl alcohol.

Solder Replacement Port
12 minAlign the new USB-C/AV port onto the board pads. Solder the through-hole anchor legs first, then carefully solder all micro-pins using a fine-tip iron and flux.

Reinstall Logic Board
4 minSet the motherboard back into the console chassis and reinsert the Phillips screws to secure it in place.

Reconnect Battery and Heatsink
