Remove MicroSD Card
1 minOpen the MicroSD card slot flap on the bottom edge and press the MicroSD card to eject it.

2 minUse a Tri-point Y00 screwdriver to remove the four outer screws securing the rear casing.

Remove Top Casing Screws
1 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the two screws located on the top edge near the exhaust port.

Remove Bottom Casing Screws
1 minRemove the two Phillips #00 screws located on the bottom edge flanking the USB-C charging port.

Pry Off Rear Case
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam along the edge and slide it around the perimeter to release the plastic clips.

Unscrew Metal Shield Plate
2 minRemove the four Phillips #00 screws holding the aluminum shield plate to the inner frame.

Remove Metal Shield Plate
1 minLift the silver shield plate off the chassis and set it aside safely.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat tip of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up off the motherboard.

Unscrew Copper Heat Sink
2 minRemove the three Phillips #00 screws securing the copper heat sink pipe over the processor.

Lift Out Heat Sink
1 minGently lift the copper heat sink off the board to access the reader assembly below.

Unlock Game Card Ribbon Connector
1 minUse precision tweezers to flip up the small black ZIF locking lever on the Game Card reader ribbon connector.

Disconnect Ribbon Cable
1 minSlide the Game Card reader ribbon cable straight out of its unlocked motherboard socket.

Unscrew Game Card Board
2 minRemove the four Phillips #00 screws holding the Game Card reader board to the chassis.

Remove Game Card Reader Assembly
1 minLift the entire Game Card and headphone jack board out of the console housing.

Position New Game Card Reader
2 minLower the replacement Game Card reader assembly into place, aligning it with the mounting posts.

Secure New Reader Board
2 minReinstall the four Phillips #00 screws to anchor the new board securely to the frame.

Reconnect Reader Ribbon Cable
2 minSlide the ribbon cable back into the ZIF socket and push down the black locking flap to secure it.

Reinstall Heat Sink and Power
3 minClean and reapply thermal paste to the heat sink, screw it back down, and press the battery connector back onto the board.
