Unplug Console Cables

Remove Outer Housing Screws

Remove Side Rail Screws
4 minUnscrew the five Phillips #00 screws along the left and right side rail tracks.

Pry Off Rear Backplate
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the casing seam and gently pry off the rear panel.

Unscrew Internal Shielding
4 minRemove the six Phillips #00 screws securing the main metal thermal shield to the frame.

Lift Out Disc Drive Module
2 minGrasp the metal edges of the drive assembly and lift it straight out of the console.

3 minDip a cotton swab in 99% isopropyl alcohol and gently wipe the glass laser lens in a circular motion.

Install Replacement Disc Drive
3 minLower the new disc drive module into the chassis alignment pegs.

Secure Drive Screws
3 minReinstall the four Phillips #00 mounting screws to fasten the drive to the frame.

Reconnect Drive Ribbon Cable
2 minSlide the ribbon cable back into the ZIF connector and push the locking flap down.

Reconnect Battery Cable
2 minPress the battery connector firmly down into its motherboard socket until it clicks.

Reattach Metal Shield
4 minPosition the thermal shield back over the board and tighten its six Phillips screws.

Reinstall Outer Housing Screws
4 minSnap the rear panel back on and secure it with the outer rail and housing screws.
