iPhone Won't Turn On
Only a battery icon, no Apple logo, or totally unresponsive — what to try and what usually fails.
Symptoms
- No response to power button
- Battery icon only when plugged in
- Gets warm but never boots
Quick troubleshooting
Step 1
Charge 30–60 minutes uninterrupted
Leave it on a known-good cable. Don't unplug every few minutes.
Step 2
Force restart while charging
Vol up, vol down, hold side. Give it a full minute.
Step 3
Try another cable / brick / wireless
Eliminate accessories before assuming the phone is dead.
Likely causes
- Deeply discharged battery
- Failed battery
- Charging path failure
- Short from liquid damage
- Logic board power rails
If it never shows an Apple logo after a long charge, it's usually battery, port, or board — not something Settings will fix. Bring it in for diagnostics.
Fix it or book it
This often needs: Battery Replacement. DIY if you're comfortable — or bring it to LML Repair (Seattle) / mail it in.
