Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power off device
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.
- 2
Eject SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the upper-left side of the device. Push firmly to pop out the tray and remove it.
- 3
Heat lower rear glass
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the lower rear glass panel for two minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the glass to the chassis.
- 4
Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the heated lower glass panel. Pull upward gently to create a small gap between the glass and the frame.
- 5
Insert opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Take care not to insert it deeper than 3 mm to avoid internal components.
- 6
Slice lower glass adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick around the perimeter of the lower back glass. Cut through all remaining adhesive along the bottom, left, and right edges.
- 7
Remove lower rear glass
1 minCarefully lift the lower glass panel straight off the phone frame. Place it aside on a clean surface.
- 8
Unbolt lower cover screws
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the lower speaker and motherboard cover bracket.
- 9
Pry up lower cover bracket
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the top edge of the lower plastic cover bracket. Gently pry up to release the plastic clips holding it in place.
- 10
Remove speaker housing assembly
1 minLift the speaker housing assembly out of the phone body. Set the damaged speaker cover aside.
- 11
Clean frame adhesive residue
3 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol to the frame edges. Use a plastic pick to scrape off old adhesive residual.
- 12
Position replacement speaker module
2 minAlign the new loudspeaker assembly over the lower sub-board socket area. Press down gently until it sits flush within the recessed lower chassis.
- 13
Fasten lower cover screws
2 minReinstall the seven Phillips #00 screws into the lower speaker cover bracket. Tighten each screw until snug without overtightening.
- 14
Apply new rear glass adhesive
2 minPeel the backing from a custom pre-cut adhesive strip and press it onto the rim of the phone frame. Remove the remaining protective liner.
- 15
Reattach lower rear glass
2 minAlign the lower rear glass panel precisely over the lower section of the phone. Press down firmly along all edges to seat the adhesive seal.
