Step-by-step

Power off the device

Remove the SIM card tray

Heat the back glass cover
2 minApply heat from a heat gun or hair dryer around the outer perimeter of the rear glass cover for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
2 minPress a suction cup onto the lower section of the rear glass cover and gently pull up to create a small gap.

Slice the back cover adhesive
5 minInsert a plastic prying pick into the gap and slide it carefully around the edges to cut through the factory adhesive.

Lift off the back glass cover
2 minGently lift the rear glass panel away from the chassis and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the midframe cover
4 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper wireless charging coil and plastic midframe.

Pry up the midframe assembly
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the edge of the midframe shield and unclip it from the frame.

Disconnect the battery connectors
2 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to disconnect both battery flex cables from the motherboard to ensure safe working conditions.

Unplug the power button flex cable
2 minLocate the power button/side key ZIF connector on the side of the motherboard and disconnect its flex cable using a spudger.

Remove the power button bracket
3 minUse precision tweezers to unhook and remove the small metal retention bracket securing the power button switch inside the inner frame.

Extract the power button flex assembly
2 minGently pry the power button flex board away from the frame adhesive and remove the entire button assembly.

Install the new power button flex cable
3 minAlign the replacement power button flex assembly in the side slot and press it down securely onto the frame adhesive.

Reassemble the device
5 minReinstall the metal bracket, reconnect the flex cable and batteries, screw the midframe back into place, and press the rear glass firmly to reseal.
