Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the slider appears, then slide to turn off the device completely.

Remove the pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.9 mm screws located at the bottom of the phone on either side of the Lightning port.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a heavy-duty suction cup onto the screen directly above the Home button to create a secure seal.

Pry open the lower display
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup while inserting a plastic opening tool into the gap to separate the display from the rear case.

Detach the Touch ID bracket
2 minUse tweezers to unhook and remove the small metal bracket covering the Touch ID cable connector near the bottom edge.

Disconnect the Touch ID cable
1 minPry the Touch ID cable connector straight up out of its socket using the pointed end of a spudger.

Remove the battery bracket
2 minUnscrew the two Phillips #000 screws securing the battery cable bracket and lift the bracket out with tweezers.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector up from the logic board using the flat end of a spudger to prevent electrical shorts.

Remove the display cable bracket
3 minRemove the four Phillips #000 screws securing the upper display cable bracket and remove the bracket.

Disconnect the display cables
3 minDisconnect the front camera, digitizer, and LCD flex cables using a spudger, then set the front panel aside.

Remove the loudspeaker assembly
4 minUnscrew the seven Phillips #000 screws holding the lower speaker box in place and lift the speaker assembly out.

Disconnect the lower flex connector
2 minPry the Lightning connector flex cable off its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

Unseat the microphone assembly
4 minGently slide a flat spudger underneath the lower flex assembly containing the primary microphone to peel it away from the rear case.
