Step-by-step

Remove the Pentalobe Screws
2 minUnscrew the two 3.9 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.

Attach the Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower half of the front glass panel, directly above the Home button.

Pry the Display Panel
3 minPull up gently on the suction cup while prying the rear case down with a plastic opening tool to open a small gap.

Disconnect the Touch ID Cable
2 minUse tweezers to slide off the metal retaining bracket, then unclip the Touch ID flex cable beneath it.

Remove the Battery Connector Bracket
2 minUnscrew the two Phillips #000 screws securing the metal battery cable bracket and lift it out.

Disconnect the Battery Flex Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up off the logic board.

Unbolt the Display Cable Shield
2 minRemove the four Phillips #000 screws securing the upper display cable shield and lift the shield away.

Disconnect the Screen Flex Cables
3 minDisconnect the front camera, LCD, and digitizer cables using a spudger, then separate the display from the phone.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the SIM tray hole on the side of the housing to remove the tray.

Disconnect Upper Connectors
3 minPry up the rear camera, volume button, and power button flex connectors from the top section of the logic board.

Disconnect Dock and Antenna Cables
2 minUnclip the Lightning connector flex cable and the lower coaxial antenna cable from the bottom of the logic board.

Remove Logic Board Screws
3 minUnscrew the logic board standoff screws and retaining bracket screws securing the board to the rear housing.

Remove the Logic Board
2 minCarefully tilt the top edge of the logic board up and lift it out from the phone chassis, ensuring no cables snag.

Reflow Damaged Micro-Components
15 minApply rosin flux to damaged solder joints under magnification and use a soldering iron or hot air rework station to reflow the connections.
