Xreal Air 2 Pro No Audio

If your Xreal Air 2 Pro display is bright and clear but the sound is completely dead, the problem usually lies in host audio output routing, USB-C DP Alt Mode handshakes, or strain on the temple arm hinges.

When sound suddenly stops working while the display remains active, it usually means the digital audio handshake failed at the software layer, the host device failed to assign the glasses as the active audio playback target, or physical stress on the hinge has disrupted the wiring to the temple speakers.

  3. Firmware state freeze: The onboard audio microcontroller inside the glasses can freeze during rapid hot-plugging or power state changes.
  4. Incompatible hub/adapter: Using cheap HDMI-to-USB-C conversion cables or non-certified hubs that pass video channels but strip audio packets.
  5. Hinge flex cable failure: Repeated folding of the temple arms can stress the internal Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC) ribbon, severing power or audio lines to the open-ear drivers.

The most common point of failure in the Xreal AR Glasses lineup is the hinge spring mechanism. Over time, opening and closing the frames subjects the thin copper traces inside the FPC ribbon cable to mechanical metal fatigue. Once an internal trace snaps, the speaker on that side (or both sides, if ground drops out) goes silent permanently.

Soft resets vs board/panel work

Resetting the software state of the Xreal Air 2 Pro is safe and easy. Performing an official WebOTA firmware reflash or forcing a resolution/audio protocol switch via the temple rocker buttons can resolve persistent software mutes.

However, board-level repairs or temple-arm teardowns are not recommended as DIY projects. The temple arms are sealed with industrial adhesive, ultra-fine ribbon connectors, and microscopic screws. Attempting to pry open the temple arms to fix speaker wiring without specialized micro-soldering gear and replacement FPC ribbons almost always causes permanent damage to the electrochromic dimming layer or micro-OLED display ribbon cables.
