Soundcore Liberty 4 NC Won't Pair
If your Soundcore Liberty 4 NC earbuds refuse to pair or won't enter pairing mode, dirty charging contacts or stuck multipoint connections are usually to blame. Here is how to force a hard reset and restore your connection.
Symptoms
- Charging case LED does not flash white when holding the setup button
- Liberty 4 NC appears in phone Bluetooth menu but fails to connect
- Only one earbud plays audio while the other remains disconnected
- Earbuds stay connected to a previous device inside the closed case
- Soundcore app hangs on 'Searching for device' screen
- Bluetooth scanner fails to detect Liberty 4 NC during setup
Quick troubleshooting
Step 1
Clean the case charging pins and stem contacts
Use a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean the metallic contacts on the stems of both Liberty 4 NC earbuds and inside the charging case wells. Debris or oil blocks the electrical signal needed for the case to initiate pairing commands. Let all surfaces air dry for two minutes before seating the earbuds back inside.
Step 2
Perform the official Liberty 4 NC factory reset
Place both earbuds into the charging case and leave the case lid wide open. Press and hold the button on the front of the charging case for 10 seconds until the internal LED indicators flash white 3 times rapidly. Close the lid for 5 seconds, reopen it, and check if the case enters automatic pairing mode.
Step 3
Forget existing Bluetooth profiles and clear cache
On your phone or transmitter, remove the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC from your list of saved Bluetooth devices. Toggle Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on to clear stale connection keys. On Android devices, clearing the system Bluetooth app cache can also eliminate stuck handshake files.
Step 4
Force manual pairing via the case button
With both earbuds resting in the open case, press and hold the case button for 3 seconds until the LED light begins pulsing continuously. Open your source device's Bluetooth menu immediately and select 'Soundcore Liberty 4 NC' from the available devices list before the broadcast times out.
Likely causes
- Stuck multipoint connection locked to a background device
- Oxidized or dirty charging pogo pins preventing the buds from sensing case commands
- Corrupted Bluetooth cache or bond keys on the host phone or laptop
- Desynchronization between the left and right earbud micro-controllers
- Depleted battery on one earbud preventing the pair handshake
- Faulty case lid reed switch failing to trigger pairing mode
What's going on
When Soundcore Liberty 4 NC earbuds refuse to pair, the problem usually stems from modern multipoint Bluetooth features getting stuck or the earbuds failing to recognize state changes inside their charging case. Because these Anker true wireless earbuds rely on the case button to trigger pairing modes and master factory resets, even minor debris on the charging contacts can interrupt the signal.
When operating correctly, opening the case signals the earbuds to wake up and initiate host discovery or rejoin your last paired device. If one earbud is dead, misaligned, or stuck connected to another tablet or laptop nearby, the pair protocol halts completely.
Symptoms people notice
- The front case LED flashes white continuously without showing up on your phone's Bluetooth search.
- Audio plays from only the right or left side despite both buds being out of the case.
- The Bluetooth menu says "Connected," but the Soundcore app fails to detect the Soundcore Liberty earbuds.
- Holding the setup button on the case does not trigger the rapid white reset flash.
- The earbuds remain connected to your phone even after being placed in the closed case.
Likely causes
- Active multipoint locks: The earbuds are silently holding an active connection to an iPad, PC, or TV elsewhere in your home.
- Dirty electrical contacts: Wax or oils on the bottom stem contacts block the case logic board from sending the reset payload.
- Firmware sync desync: The primary and secondary earbuds lost their internal wireless bond and cannot synchronize channel assignments.
- Host Bluetooth cache error: The host device has corrupted pairing keys stored for the Liberty 4 NC hardware ID.
- Low earbud battery: One earbud has drained to 0% due to poor seating, breaking the stereo pairing process.
Quick checks first
Before assuming your hardware has suffered a permanent failure, work through basic triage on your setup:
- Seat check: Ensure the ear tips are not too large or misaligned, which can prevent the earbuds from sitting flat against the gold pogo pins in the case.
- Power verify: Plug the case into a known-working USB-C cable. Ensure the case light turns on solid before attempting to press the pairing button.
- Disconnect extra devices: Turn off Bluetooth on nearby devices (tablets, work laptops, old phones) that have previously paired with your earbuds.

When it's a real hardware fault
If the reset sequence fails to trigger despite clean contacts and a fully charged case, you may be facing a physical failure:
- Failed reed switch: The magnet or hall effect sensor in the case lid that tells the board the case is open has failed.
- Collapsed pogo pin: One of the spring-loaded gold pins inside the case well is stuck in the down position or corroded through.
- Degraded coin cell: The miniature lithium coin cell inside one earbud can no longer hold enough voltage to execute the Bluetooth radio boot loop.
Soft resets vs board/panel work
True wireless earbuds are non-serviceable sealed units held together with strong industrial adhesive. Performing a soft reset or clearing host network settings is safe, effective, and fully supported by manufacturers. However, attempting to open a tiny earbud casing or the glued Liberty 4 NC power case to replace internal batteries or micro-solder charging pins is not practical DIY work—it almost always results in destroyed housing plastics and compromised water resistance.
When a hard reset fails to restore pairing broadcast, replacing the single affected earbud or case under warranty is the realistic path forward.
