September 7, 2026 isn’t only “two days before Apple.” In China, Huawei is launching the Mate XT 2 tri-fold, with reporting that it ships alongside the consumer push for HarmonyOS 7.
Tri-folds are the escalation of the foldable bet: more panels, more hinges, more protective films — and usually astronomical display costs when something cracks.

- Multi-fold inner displays are rarely “just a screen swap.”
- Alignment and adhesive stacks multiply labor time.
- Independent parts channels for Chinese flagships can lag or stay gray-market.
If you’re buying any tri-fold for daily carry, budget for insurance or a very large repair escrow. These devices are engineering demos that happen to make phone calls.
Bottom line: cool category. Brutal ownership math if you drop it.
