Step-by-step

Power off device and remove SIM tray
1 minTurn off your Galaxy S9 completely. Insert a SIM eject tool into the top tray hole to remove the SIM and microSD tray.

3 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear glass using a heat gun or hair dryer for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup to lower rear glass
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the glass back cover and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

Insert plastic opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic prying tool into the gap created by the suction cup to slice through the bottom adhesive seal.

Slice along left and right glass edges
3 minGently slide the plastic pick around the side edges of the back glass, cutting through all perimeter adhesive.

Slice around top glass edge carefully
2 minCarefully slide the pick along the top edge, avoiding deep insertion near the camera assembly.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor flex cable
1 minSlightly tilt the back glass open and use a spudger to detach the short fingerprint reader connector from the motherboard.

Remove rear glass panel
1 minLift the rear glass panel away from the phone body completely and place it safely on your workspace mat.

Unscrew upper wireless charging coil
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 11 screws securing the plastic upper cover and wireless charging antenna.

Pry up wireless charging antenna assembly
1 minGently insert a spudger under the edge of the wireless charging assembly and lift it out of the chassis.

Unscrew bottom loudspeaker module
2 minRemove the 5 Phillips #00 screws holding the lower speaker assembly in place at the bottom of the phone.

Remove bottom loudspeaker module
1 minUse plastic prying tools to lift the loudspeaker module up and out of the lower chassis.

Disconnect battery flex cable
1 minUse a spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket to kill power.

Disconnect main display connector
1 minPry up the main display flex cable connector located near the middle right side of the mainboard.

Disconnect headphone jack connector
1 minUnplug the small headphone jack flex cable connector from the daughterboard near the bottom edge.

Remove headphone jack assembly screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the 3.5mm headphone jack module to the frame.

Remove headphone jack module
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the headphone jack module out of its recess in the lower frame.

Disconnect charging port main flex cable
1 minUse a spudger to disconnect the wide ribbon connector that links the charging port board to the mainboard.

Remove charging port board screws
1 minUnscrew the Phillips #00 screws holding the charging port board assembly to the bottom frame.

Pry up damaged charging port assembly
2 minCarefully pry under the charging port assembly with a spudger to loosen the light adhesive and remove the board.

Seat replacement charging port assembly
2 minPosition the new charging port flex board into the bottom housing and press it flush into alignment.

Secure charging port board screws

Reconnect fingerprint sensor and seal back glass
3 minPlug in the fingerprint sensor connector, apply fresh perimeter adhesive, and press the rear glass firmly closed.
