Step-by-step

Power down the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole at the top of the phone and press firmly to eject the tray.

Heat the rear glass edges
2 minUse a heat gun or hairdryer along the outer edges of the rear glass cover for about two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear glass cover and press down to secure a firm hold.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap at the bottom edge, then slide a thin plastic pick into the gap.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minSlide the plastic pick around all sides of the rear cover to break through the internal frame adhesive.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minGently lift the right edge of the rear glass and use a spudger to disconnect the short fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Remove the rear glass
1 minLift the rear glass off the phone body completely and set it aside on your work mat.

Unscrew the midframe assembly
3 minRemove eleven Phillips #00 screws securing the upper wireless charging assembly and midframe frame.

Remove the wireless charging coil
2 minUse a spudger to gently pry up the wireless charging coil and midframe cover from the phone housing.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

Unscrew the speaker assembly
2 minRemove five Phillips #00 screws securing the lower loudspeaker module to the bottom frame.

Remove the speaker assembly
2 minInsert a spudger under the top edge of the speaker module and pry upward to remove it.

Disconnect the interconnect cable
1 minUse a spudger to pop off the main ribbon interconnect cable from the charging port board.

Disconnect the display cable
1 minPry the display flex cable straight up from its connector on the bottom daughterboard.

Unclip the coaxial antennas
2 minUse tweezers to carefully pry up the red and blue coaxial antenna cables from the daughterboard.

Unscrew the charging port board
2 minRemove three Phillips #00 screws holding the charging port daughterboard to the bottom chassis.

Remove the charging port board
2 minPry under the edge of the charging port board and lift it out of the lower phone frame.

Install the new charging port board
2 minAlign the replacement charging port board with the bottom cutout and seat it into the housing.

Secure the daughterboard screws
2 minInsert and tighten the three Phillips #00 screws to hold the new charging port assembly in place.

Reconnect the coaxial antennas
2 minAlign and press down on the red and blue coaxial antenna connectors until they snap onto the board.

Reconnect display and interconnect flexes
2 minSnap the main interconnect flex and display flex connectors back onto their respective sockets on the daughterboard.

Reinstall the speaker assembly
2 minPosition the loudspeaker module over the lower board and secure it using the five Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minAlign the battery flex connector over the motherboard and press down until it clicks into place.

Reinstall wireless charging assembly
3 minPlace the wireless charging pad back over the motherboard and install the eleven Phillips #00 screws.

Apply new back cover adhesive
3 minClean remaining old glue with isopropyl alcohol and lay down a pre-cut replacement adhesive strip along the perimeter.

Reconnect the fingerprint flex
2 minHold the rear glass close to the chassis and reattach the fingerprint sensor connector using your spudger.

Seal the rear glass
2 minAlign the rear glass panel over the frame and press firmly along all four edges to seal the phone tight.
