Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button on the right edge, then tap Power Off on the screen.

Remove the rear cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch at the top edge of the back panel and lift it off.

Remove the battery
1 minUse your finger or a plastic spudger to lift the battery out from the notch near the bottom.

Remove the SIM card
1 minSlide the SIM card out from its metal tray using your thumb or tweezers.

Remove the microSD card

Unscrew the rear midframe
2 minRemove the seven Phillips #00 screws securing the rear midframe to the front panel assembly.

Pry off the midframe
3 minInsert a plastic pry tool between the chrome bezel and the midframe, running it around the perimeter to release the plastic clips.

Disconnect the display flex cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pry the display connector straight up from the motherboard.

Disconnect the digitizer flex cable
2 minPry up the touch screen digitizer flex cable connector from the right side of the board.

Disconnect the top assembly flex cable
2 minDisconnect the connector for the headphone jack and earpiece speaker assembly near the top of the logic board.

Remove the logic board screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips #00 screw securing the logic board to the internal chassis.

Lift out the logic board
2 minGently lift the logic board out from the top edge, ensuring no flex cables get snagged.

Position the replacement logic board
2 minSet the new logic board into the front housing, aligning the bottom charging port first.

Secure the logic board screw
1 minReinstall the single Phillips #00 screw to fix the logic board to the chassis.

Reconnect all flex cables
2 minPress down firmly on the display, digitizer, and top assembly connectors until they snap into place.

Snap the midframe onto the frame
2 minAlign the rear midframe over the chassis and press along all edges until the plastic tabs click into place.

Reinstall the midframe screws
2 minDrive the seven Phillips #00 screws back into the rear midframe.

Reinstall cards, battery, and cover
2 minReinsert the SIM and microSD cards, place the battery back into its bay, and press the rear cover onto the phone until secure.
