Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off to turn off your Moto G86 completely.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the side of the phone and push firmly to pop out the tray.

Heat the back cover
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the rear panel for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the back panel and pull upward gently to create a gap.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
5 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it along all four edges to slice through the rear cover glue.

Remove the rear cover
2 minLift the rear cover away from the phone body and place it on your clean workspace.

Unscrew the upper midframe
4 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the top plastic motherboard shield.

Pry off the upper midframe cover
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the notch in the midframe shield and lift it off the phone.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket to prevent electrical shorts.

Disconnect the camera modules
3 minPry up the press-fit connectors for the front-facing camera and rear camera sensors using a spudger.

Disconnect the interconnect and display cables
2 minUnplug the display ribbon cable and the lower sub-board interconnect flex cable from the main board.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cables
2 minGently pry the antenna cable heads straight up from their connectors on the edge of the logic board using tweezers.

Remove the logic board retaining screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips screw holding the bottom-left corner of the logic board to the frame.

Lift out the logic board
2 minPry gently beneath the top edge of the logic board with a spudger and lift it free from the phone chassis.
