Step-by-step
- 1
Turn off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen before beginning.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the side of the frame and press firmly to release the tray.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply a heat gun or heated iOpener around the outer edges of the back panel for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice the panel adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick beneath the bottom edge and carefully slide it around the perimeter.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minSlightly tilt the back cover open and use tweezers to detach the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Remove speaker housing screws
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower loudspeaker assembly.

Pry out speaker housing
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker unit and pry it up from the phone frame.

Disconnect interconnect flex
1 minUse a plastic spudger to snap the main interconnect flex connector off the bottom daughterboard.

Unplug coaxial antenna cable
1 minGently pry up the white coaxial cable connector from its socket on the daughterboard using tweezers.

Remove microphone daughterboard
2 minPry the bottom sub-board, which houses the primary microphone, out of its recess in the frame.

Install new microphone board
2 minPosition the new replacement daughterboard into the frame recess, ensuring the microphone gasket aligns properly.

Reconnect coaxial cable
1 minAlign the antenna cable head over its socket on the new sub-board and press straight down until it snaps into place.

Attach interconnect flex
1 minAlign the main interconnect cable connector over the sub-board socket and press firmly to secure it.

Place speaker housing
2 minSet the loudspeaker assembly back into position over the daughterboard.

Secure speaker screws
2 minTighten the Phillips #00 screws to lock the loudspeaker module back into the frame.

Reconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minHold the back cover close to the frame and snap the fingerprint reader flex connector back onto the motherboard.

Reseal back cover
3 minApply new adhesive tape along the frame border, align the back cover, and press firmly along all edges.

Reinsert SIM tray
1 minPush the SIM card tray back into its slot until flush with the phone body.
