Step-by-step
- 1
Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left side of the phone. Press firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it completely free.

Heat the rear cover edges
2 minApply a heat gun or heated pad set to low temperature around the perimeter of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back plastic cover and pull upward to create a small gap.

Slice the rear cover adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slide the pick around all four edges to cut through the perimeter tape.

Remove the rear cover
1 minLift the rear cover straight off the frame and set it aside in a safe location.

Unscrew the speaker housing
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the bottom speaker assembly to the frame.

Pry up the speaker module
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger beneath the notch on the speaker housing and carefully lift it out of the chassis.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the main interconnect ribbon connector straight up from the bottom daughterboard.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable
2 minGently pry the antenna cable's metallic snap connector up from the corner of the daughterboard using precision tweezers.

Remove the microphone daughterboard
2 minInsert a spudger under the corner of the daughterboard and gently pry it out of its plastic housing recession.

Install the replacement daughterboard
2 minSet the new microphone sub-board into the lower housing cutout and press lightly until it sits flush.

Reconnect the cables
2 minAlign and press down on the coaxial antenna cable and main interconnect flex cable until they click into their board connectors.

Reinstall the speaker housing
3 minPlace the bottom speaker module back over the lower board and drive in the seven Phillips #00 screws.

Reattach the rear cover
3 minApply pre-cut replacement adhesive along the frame edges, align the back cover, and press firmly along the perimeter to seal.
