Step-by-step

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left side of the device. Push firmly to eject the tray and slide it out.

Heat the rear panel
2 minApply a heat gun evenly around the outer edges of the rear panel for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and press down to seal it.

Slice the bottom adhesive
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a gap and insert a plastic opening pick under the glass. Slide the pick along the bottom edge to sever the adhesive.

Unseal the remaining edges
3 minSlide the opening pick around the left, right, and top edges. Keep the pick shallow on the right side to avoid damaging internal cables.

Lift the rear panel
1 minCarefully swing the rear panel open to the right like a book. Do not pull it away completely yet, as the fingerprint flex cable is still attached.

Unscrew the motherboard bracket
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic upper midframe cover.

Remove the motherboard bracket
1 minPry up the edges of the upper bracket with a spudger and lift it off the phone.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the edge of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable
1 minPry up the fingerprint reader flex cable from the motherboard. Set the rear panel completely aside.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
2 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws holding the lower loudspeaker housing to the frame.

Remove the loudspeaker module
1 minInsert a spudger under the notch in the loudspeaker housing and pry it up to remove it.

Disconnect the main flex cable
1 minUse a spudger to lift the lower end of the main interconnect flex cable off the sub-board.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable
1 minGently pry up the white coaxial antenna cable connector from the sub-board using fine tweezers.

Pry up the microphone sub-board
2 minSlide a flat spudger under the sub-board containing the primary microphone and lift it out of the chassis.

Position the new sub-board
2 minSet the replacement sub-board into the bottom recess of the phone, ensuring it sits flat against the alignment pins.

Reconnect the antenna and main flex cables
2 minSnap the coaxial antenna cable connector and the main interconnect cable back into their sub-board sockets.

Reassemble the device
3 minReinstall the loudspeaker, reconnect the battery and fingerprint flex cables, secure the midframe screws, and press the back cover back onto fresh adhesive.
