Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to eject the tray and remove it.

Heat Rear Panel
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull up to create a gap. Insert an opening pick under the plastic cover.

Slice Rear Adhesive
4 minSlide the opening pick along the entire perimeter of the rear cover to cut through the adhesive seal.

Lift Rear Panel Carefully
2 minGently hinge open the back cover from the left side. Do not pull it completely away as the fingerprint cable is still connected.

Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector straight up off the motherboard bracket.

Remove Top Shield Screws
3 minUnscrew the Phillips screws securing the upper plastic motherboard cover shield.

Detach Motherboard Cover
2 minInsert the tip of a spudger under the motherboard shield and lift it off the frame.

3 minApply a few drops of high-percentage isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery well.

Unroll Battery Stretch Release Pull Tabs
4 minLocate the pull tabs at the bottom edge of the battery and pull them out slowly at a low angle using tweezers.

Pry Out Battery
3 minWork a plastic opening card gently beneath the battery to break remaining adhesive and lift the battery out.

Clean Battery Frame
2 minWipe down the battery recess using a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol to clean residual glue.

Apply New Battery Adhesive
2 minPeel the backing off new battery adhesive strips and lay them flat inside the phone's battery well.

Seat Replacement Battery
2 minAlign the new battery over the tray and press down firmly to set it into the new adhesive.
