   Power off device and remove SIM tray

   Press and hold the power button to shut down the Moto Edge 30 Ultra completely. Insert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole at the bottom edge and pull out the tray.

   Heat the rear glass edges

   Use a heat gun on low setting to warm the outer edges of the rear cover for two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the back glass to the chassis.

   Attach suction cup and lift rear glass

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back cover and pull upward firmly to create a small gap. Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap.

   Slice rear glass adhesive

   Slide the plastic prying pick carefully along the perimeter of the phone to cut through the remaining adhesive. Avoid inserting the pick deeper than 3 millimeters to protect internal components.

   Lift off the rear glass cover

   Gently lift the back glass up and off the frame once all adhesive is sliced. Set the glass aside on a clean surface.

   Unscrew top motherboard cover

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the top plastic motherboard cover and camera assembly shield. Store the screws in a organized tray.

   Remove motherboard shield

   Use a spudger to gently pry up and release the top motherboard shield from the chassis. Lift the shield away to expose the board layout.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Insert the flat end of a plastic spudger directly beneath the battery press connector. Pry straight up to disconnect power from the motherboard.

   Disconnect volume button flex cable

   2 min

   Locate the volume button ribbon connector on the side of the motherboard. Use a plastic spudger or tweezers to flip up the locking tab and slide the flex cable out.

    Peel off damaged volume flex cable

    Insert fine tweezers or a spudger beneath the volume flex strip adhered inside the frame cavity. Carefully pry and peel the old flex cable away from the phone body.

    Position new volume button flex cable

    Peel the adhesive backing film off the replacement volume button flex cable. Seat the flex strip neatly inside the side frame channel and press down to secure it.

    Reconnect volume button flex cable

    Slide the ribbon end of the new volume cable back into its motherboard connector socket. Carefully flip down the locking tab to clamp the ribbon cable.

    Reconnect the battery cable

    Align the battery press connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it clicks into place.

    Reinstall top motherboard shield

    Position the plastic motherboard shield over the top section of the motherboard. Reinsert and tighten all Phillips screws securely.

    Apply new rear adhesive and seal phone

    5 min

    Clean remaining adhesive off the frame using isopropyl alcohol, then stick down a new pre-cut adhesive gasket. Align the rear glass and press around all edges to seal.
