Step-by-step

Power off the phone

Unclip the rear plastic cover

Unscrew the lower loudspeaker housing
3 minRemove the Phillips PH00 screws securing the speaker assembly at the bottom of the device.

Disconnect the interconnect flex cables
2 minUnplug the display flex cable and main interconnect ribbon cable from the motherboard and sub-board.

3 minUnclip the coaxial antenna cable and gently lift the motherboard out of the phone body.

Extract the bottom sub-board
2 minDisconnect the antenna cable from the sub-board and lift the USB port assembly out of the lower chassis.

Scrub circuit boards with alcohol
8 minSoak a soft-bristle ESD brush in 99% isopropyl alcohol and scrub away mineral deposits and corrosion from both boards.

Inspect boards for damage
5 minExamine all chip leads and solder joints under a magnifying visor to identify corroded or burnt components.

Dry all internal components
15 minPlace the cleaned motherboards on a lint-free microfiber cloth and allow them to air-dry completely.
