Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select 'Power off' on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM tray on the left edge and push firmly to pop it out.

Unclip the rear cover seam
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam between the rear cover and the front glass assembly near the SIM slot.

Release the rear cover clips
4 minSlide the opening pick around the perimeter of the phone to pop all plastic retention clips loose.

Lift the rear cover carefully
2 minGently hinge open the rear cover from the left side, taking care not to tear the attached fingerprint sensor flex cable.

2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the speaker housing and lift it out to expose the lower sub-board.

Disconnect the main interconnect cable
2 minPry the bottom end of the long interconnect flex cable off the lower sub-board connector using a spudger.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable
2 minGently pry the antenna cable connector off its socket on the sub-board using precision tweezers.

Remove the microphone sub-board
3 minInsert a flat plastic opening tool beneath the sub-board and lift it out of the phone chassis.

Transfer the rubber microphone gasket
2 minUse tweezers to peel the small rubber acoustic boot off the old microphone and seat it onto the new sub-board.

Install the replacement sub-board
2 minPlace the new sub-board into the lower cavity of the frame and press gently until it sits flush.

Reconnect the antenna and interconnect cables
3 minSnap the coaxial antenna cable connector and the main ribbon cable back onto their sub-board sockets.

Reinstall the speaker housing
3 minSet the speaker module in place over the sub-board and tighten the seven Phillips #000 screws.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor and top bracket
3 minPlug the fingerprint flex cable into the motherboard, place the shield bracket on top, and tighten its screws.

Snap the rear cover back on
2 minAlign the rear cover with the chassis and squeeze around the edges until all clips click firmly into place.
