Step-by-step

Power Off Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Remove Back Cover
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch on the bottom edge of the phone. Gently pry upward to release the clips holding the rear cover.

Remove Battery
1 minUse your fingernail or a plastic spudger at the notch below the battery to lift and pull the battery out of the recess.

Remove SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM card and microSD card from their respective slots above the battery compartment.

Unscrew Midframe Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the 10 Phillips screws securing the plastic midframe cover.

Pry Off Midframe Cover
3 minInsert an opening tool between the midframe and the front frame. Slide along the perimeter to unclip and remove the midframe.

Disconnect Rear Camera
2 minPry the rear camera press connector straight up from its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

Disconnect Front Camera
2 minDisconnect the front-facing camera connector from the motherboard and lift the camera module out of the phone.

Disconnect Display Flex Cable
2 minPop open the display flex cable press connector from the logic board with a plastic spudger.

Disconnect Lower Sub-Board Flex Cable
2 minDetach the ribbon cable connecting the main logic board to the bottom charging/daughter board.

Lift Out Logic Board
3 minInsert a flat plastic tool under the top edge of the logic board and gently pry it out of the plastic chassis clips.

Clean and Reflow Corroded Joints
10 minApply liquid flux to damaged soldered joints on the board, then heat with a soldering iron to reflow or desolder defective components using braid.

Position Logic Board in Chassis
2 minAlign the repaired or replacement logic board into the phone frame and press down firmly until it snaps under the plastic tabs.

Reconnect Flex Cables and Reassemble
5 minSnap all camera and display press connectors back onto the board. Reinstall the midframe, tighten all screws, insert the battery, and snap on the back cover.
