Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to ensure the phone is completely shut down.

Remove the back cover
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the notch near the USB port and lift the back cover away from the phone.

Lift out the battery
1 minUse your fingernail or a plastic spudger in the recess at the bottom of the battery bay to lift and remove the battery.

Eject SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM card and microSD card from their respective slots above the battery compartment.

Unscrew lower frame cover
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the lower speaker and daughterboard shield.

Pry up lower frame cover
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the edge of the lower housing bracket and pop it free from the phone chassis.

Disconnect antenna cable
2 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the circular coaxial antenna connector straight up off the daughterboard.

Apply flux to port pins
2 minApply a small drop of liquid flux over the micro-USB port anchor legs and pin connections on the daughterboard.

Desolder old port pins
5 minPlace desoldering braid over the anchor pads and pins, then apply the soldering iron tip to pull up the existing solder.

Remove damaged micro-USB port
2 minGently lift the loosened micro-USB port off the daughterboard using tweezers.

Position replacement micro-USB port
3 minAlign the anchor legs and signal pins of the new micro-USB port onto the daughterboard pads.

Solder replacement port
6 minApply solder to each anchor leg and carefully bridge solder to the pin contacts on the daughterboard.

Reinstall daughterboard
2 minSet the daughterboard back into its slot in the bottom of the phone chassis.

Reconnect flex and antenna cables
3 minPress the interconnect flex ribbon and antenna coaxial connector firmly back onto the daughterboard.

Reattach lower frame cover
3 minPlace the lower frame housing over the daughterboard and secure it with the Phillips #00 screws.

Reassemble battery and cover
2 minReinsert the cards, push the battery back into place, and press the back cover around the edges until it snaps shut.
