Safety

- Ensure the battery is completely removed before disconnecting internal ribbon cables.
- Do not bend or crease the flexible printed circuit (FPC) cables during removal.

Step-by-step

Press the battery release button
1 minLocate the battery module release button on the lower left edge of the phone frame and press it firmly.

Slide out the battery module
1 minGrasp the bottom chin of the device and pull the battery module straight out of the housing.

Detach the battery from the base
2 minFirmly hold the module base and angle the battery sideways to unclip it from the bottom cap.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole on the right side of the device to pop out the SIM/microSD tray.

Remove the lower frame screws
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the two screws located inside the lower battery cavity.

Separate the display assembly
3 minInsert a thin plastic prying tool into the seam between the glass screen and the metal rear housing at the bottom edge.

Unclip the rear housing
3 minSlide the pry tool along the left and right edges to release the internal plastic retaining clips.

Remove the rear housing
2 minGently lift the rear housing straight up and off the screen and frame assembly.

Disconnect the fingerprint reader
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop up the press connector for the fingerprint sensor on the motherboard.

Disconnect the front camera
2 minPry the front-facing camera ribbon cable connector straight up from its socket on the upper left of the logic board.

Disconnect the dual rear cameras
2 minDisconnect both press connectors for the wide-angle and standard rear camera modules using a spudger.

Disconnect the display cable
2 minPry up the main display flex cable connector located near the upper center of the board.

Lift out the logic board
3 minGently lift the logic board from the top edge and tilt it out from the display assembly frame.

Remove the rear camera module
2 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the rear camera assembly out of its recessed slot on the old logic board.

Transfer cameras to the new board
3 minPlace the rear camera assembly into the corresponding socket on the replacement logic board.

Install the new logic board
3 minLower the replacement logic board into the phone frame, ensuring top alignment pins seat correctly.

Reconnect the camera and display cables
3 minPress down firmly on the display cable, front camera, and rear camera connectors until they click into place.

Snap the rear housing into place
3 minAlign the front assembly with the rear housing and press firmly around the perimeter to engage all clips.

Reinstall the lower frame screws
2 minSecure the two Phillips #00 screws inside the lower battery cavity.

Insert the battery module and SIM tray
2 minAttach the battery back onto the bottom module chin, slide it into the phone until it clicks, and reinsert the SIM tray.
After your LG G5 logic board repair
Power the G5 back on and test the logic board repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair.
