   Power Off Device

   Press and hold the Power button on the back of the LG G5. Tap Power Off on the screen and wait for the phone to shut down completely.

   Press Module Release Button

   Locate the small module release button on the lower-left edge of the phone frame. Press it firmly until the chin module disengages from the body.

   Pull Out Lower Module

   Grasp the bottom chin module and slide it straight out from the phone chassis. The battery will come out attached to this lower module.

   Detach Battery from Module

   Hold the chin module base firmly while pulling the battery sideways to unclip it. Avoid bending the battery connector pins during separation.

   Remove Module Screws

   Locate the small Phillips screws on the inner face of the chin module. Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to unthread and remove them.

   Insert Opening Pick

   Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the perimeter seam of the plastic module housing. Work the pick around the edge to loosen internal clips.

   Pry Open Module Frame

   Gently twist the opening pick to pop open the plastic shell clips. Be careful not to apply excessive force that could snap the plastic tabs.

   Separate Module Shell

   Lift the upper portion of the plastic casing off the module base. Set the plastic shell piece aside safely.

   Unfasten Board Screws

   Remove the small Phillips screws securing the USB-C daughterboard to the lower plastic housing. Store the screws in a magnetic tray.

    Lift Out Port Board

    Use a flat spudger to pry the old USB-C charging port board out of its plastic recess. Lift the board straight up to clear its positioning pins.

    Clean Internal Cavity

    Inspect the inner housing cavity for dust and debris. Lightly wipe the contacts and housing area using isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free swab.

    Position New Port Board

    Set the new replacement charging port board into the lower module casing. Ensure the USB-C port lines up precisely with the outer hole cutout.

    Secure Board Screws

    Thread and tighten the small Phillips screws back into the port board. Ensure the board rests flush against the plastic housing.

    Snap Shell Together

    Align the top plastic shell over the module base. Press firmly along the edges until all outer clips snap securely shut.

    Reinstall Casing Screws

    Reinstall the Phillips screws into the outer casing of the chin module. Drive them snug without over-tightening.

    Snap Battery onto Base

    Line up the bottom edge of the battery with the module connector. Push down firmly until you hear a clear click indicating it is locked.

    Insert Module Assembly

    Slide the combined battery and chin module assembly straight back into the main LG G5 housing. Push until the module release button locks.

    Test Port Connection

    Plug a USB-C charging cable connected to power into the new port. Verify that the screen indicates charging before turning on the device.
