Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button on the back of the device. Tap Power Off on the screen and wait for the phone to shut down completely.

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small hole on the lower right side of the frame. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Press Module Release Button
1 minLocate the small module release button on the bottom left edge of the phone frame. Press it in firmly until the bottom chin detaches slightly.

Remove Bottom Module
2 minGrasp the exposed bottom module chin and pull it straight out from the phone housing. The attached battery will slide out along with it.

Grip Module and Battery
1 minHold the bottom module firmly in one hand and grab the green battery body with your other hand.

Unclip Battery from Module
2 minPull the battery away from the module while bending it at a slight angle until it snaps unclipped from the locking tabs.

Clean Module Connector
2 minInspect the electrical contacts on the bottom module for dust or debris. Wipe gently with a dry lint-free cloth or isopropyl alcohol swab if necessary.

Align Replacement Battery
1 minPosition the new battery so its contacts align with the receiver slot on the bottom chin module.

Snap Battery into Module
2 minPush the clip end of the new battery firmly into the module until you hear a distinct click. Ensure no gap remains between the battery base and the module.

Insert Battery Assembly
2 minAlign the battery and module with the internal cavity of the phone housing. Slide the entire assembly straight into the phone until it sits flush.

Lock Bottom Module
1 minPress the chin firmly into the body until the module release button clicks back into its original position.

Reinsert SIM Tray
1 minAlign the SIM tray with its slot on the side of the phone. Push it in gently until it sits flush with the outer frame.

Test New Battery
3 minPress and hold the power button to boot up the device. Plug in a USB-C charger to confirm the phone charges properly.
After your LG G5 battery replacement
Power the G5 back on and test the battery replacement function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair.
