Step-by-step

Power off phone
1 minPress and hold the power button and volume up button, then tap 'Power off' on the screen.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the bottom frame to pop out the SIM card tray.

Heat rear panel
2 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear panel for two minutes using a heat gun to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minSecure a suction cup to the lower section of the back panel, just above the USB-C port.

Insert opening pick
2 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert a plastic opening pick under the back cover.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the pick slowly around all four edges of the device to cut through the adhesive seal.

Remove rear panel
1 minCarefully lift the rear panel off the frame and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew midframe shield
3 minRemove the T3 Torx screws securing the plastic midframe shield and graphite thermal sheet.

Remove midframe shield
2 minUse a spudger to gently unhook and lift the midframe shield off the phone chassis.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Disconnect display cable
1 minUnplug the display flex connector to protect the cable while working around the battery.

Apply isopropyl alcohol
2 minDrip a small amount of isopropyl alcohol along the side edges of the battery well to weaken the glue.

Pull battery adhesive tabs
4 minGrasp the stretch-release battery adhesive pull tab with tweezers and slowly pull at a low angle.

Pry out battery
2 minInsert a flat plastic spudger under the battery edge and gently lever the battery out of the frame.

Clean battery compartment
2 minWipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery compartment using alcohol and a cloth.

Apply fresh battery adhesive
2 minPeel off the protective backing and place new adhesive strips flat into the battery recess.

Install new battery
2 minPosition the new battery into the housing and press firmly to bond it to the adhesive.

Reconnect battery flex cable
1 minAlign the battery cable connector over its motherboard socket and press down until it clicks.
