- Disconnect the battery flex cable immediately after opening the display bracket to cut power.

Step-by-step
- 1
Power off device
1 minTurn off your iPhone XS completely before beginning disassembly to prevent electrical shorts.

Remove pentalobe screws
2 minUnscrew and remove the two 6.8 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located at the bottom edge near the Lightning port.

Heat bottom edge
2 minApply heat to the lower edge of the phone using a heat gun or hair dryer for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Apply suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the bottom half of the glass screen just above the home button area.

Slice display adhesive
4 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a gap, then insert an opening pick and slide it around the perimeter to slice the seal.

Open display
1 minSwing the screen open from the left side like a book, leaning it against a rigid object so it does not strain the flex cables.

Unscrew display bracket
3 minRemove the five Y000 tri-point screws securing the metal shield cover over the logic board connectors.

Disconnect battery
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up out of its socket.

Disconnect display flexes
2 minDisconnect the OLED display, digitizer, and front panel sensor assembly cables from the logic board using a spudger.

Separate display
1 minLift the display assembly away from the phone frame completely and set it aside in a safe location.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole in the SIM tray to eject and remove it from the frame.

Remove logic board screws
4 minRemove all standoff and Phillips screws securing the logic board assembly to the rear enclosure.

Disconnect motherboard flexes
3 minDisconnect the rear camera flex cables, charging port cable, and wireless charging coil connector from the logic board.

Remove logic board
2 minCarefully tilt and lift the logic board out of the phone, storing it on an anti-static mat.

Remove battery stretch tabs
5 minPeel back the adhesive release tabs on the battery and slowly pull them out parallel to the chassis to release the battery.

Heat wireless coil adhesive
2 minApply heat to the center rear glass on the outside of the phone to loosen the wireless charging pad's strong adhesive.

Peel wireless charging coil
4 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick under the edges of the wireless charging coil assembly to slice the adhesive and peel it up.

Install replacement coil
3 minPeel the backing from the new wireless charging coil assembly, align it carefully in the rear enclosure, and press firm to adhere.
