   Power off the iPhone

   Press and hold the side button along with either volume button, then slide to power off. Wait until the screen goes completely dark before proceeding.

   Remove bottom pentalobe screws

   Use a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws on either side of the Lightning port. Store them in a organizer tray to prevent loss.

   Warm display perimeter

   Apply a heated pad or heat gun to the lower edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the waterproof adhesive seal. Keep the heat source moving to avoid screen damage.

   Attach suction cup

   Press a suction cup onto the lower portion of the screen, just above the bottom bezel. Pull upward firmly to create a slight gap between the glass and frame.

   Insert opening pick

   Push a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created at the lower edge. Slice carefully through the adhesive along the bottom of the phone.

   Slice side display adhesive

   Slide the pick up the left and right sides of the phone to cut through the remaining adhesive. Stop before the top edge to avoid snapping top display clips.

   Open display panel

   Swing the screen open to the right, opening it like the cover of a book. Rest the screen against a sturdy support to avoid straining the delicate flex cables.

   Remove lower bracket screws

   Use a Y000 tri-point driver to unfasten the three screws securing the lower connector bracket. Group these screws separately as they are different sizes.

   Remove metal lower bracket

   Use tweezers to lift the lower metal display bracket out of the chassis. Set it aside for reassembly.

    Disconnect battery cable

    Pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket using the flat end of a spudger. Keep the battery disconnected during the rest of the repair.

    Disconnect display flex cables

    Pop the display and digitizer flex cable connectors off their sockets on the logic board using a spudger. Work gently to avoid damaging surrounding components.

    Detach display assembly

    Lift the display assembly free from the enclosure. Lay the display face down on a clean, soft surface.

    Remove speaker retaining screws

    Unscrew the three Phillips #000 and Y000 screws holding down the lower speaker assembly and grounding bracket. Note each screw's exact position.

    Remove grounding bracket

    Lift the small metal grounding clip off the top of the loudspeaker unit using tweezers.

    Pry up speaker assembly

    Insert a spudger beneath the edge of the speaker module near the bottom edge. Gently lever the speaker assembly up and out of the phone body.

    Install replacement speaker

    Place the new loudspeaker assembly into the bottom cavity of the enclosure. Align the mounting holes with the standoff posts and press down gently.

    Secure speaker and bracket

    Reposition the grounding bracket and reinstall all retaining screws. Tighten each screw until snug without over-torquing.

    Reconnect screen and seal enclosure

    Reconnect display connectors and battery cable, reinstall screen brackets, apply new display adhesive, and snap screen back onto frame before securing pentalobe screws.
