Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
1 minTurn off your iPhone XS completely before starting any disassembly to prevent electrical shorts.

Remove Bottom Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning connector.

3 minRemove the upper logic board bracket and disconnect the OLED panel, digitizer, and front camera cluster flex cables.

3 minUnscrew the rear camera bracket, disconnect both camera flex cables, and lift the dual-camera assembly out of the case.

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the SIM tray hole and push firmly to eject the tray.

Disconnect Upper Connectors
4 minUse a spudger to carefully unclip the power button, flash, volume, antenna, and charging port cables from the logic board.

Remove Standoff Screws
3 minUse a standoff screwdriver to remove the grounding and mounting standoff screws securing the logic board to the rear case.

Lift Out Logic Board
2 minGently tilt the logic board up from the bottom edge and maneuver it out of the chassis, ensuring no loose cables snag.

Apply Liquid Flux
2 minApply a small drop of flux to the target joint or surface-mount component on the logic board under magnification.

Solder Board Components
10 minUse a fine soldering iron tip or hot air rework pencil to reflow or solder the damaged trace or joint.

Reinstall Logic Board
4 minPosition the logic board back into the chassis and thread the standoff screws loosely before tightening them secure.
