   Power Off the iPhone

   Press and hold the side button and either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to power off the device completely before proceeding.

   Remove Bottom Pentalobe Screws

   Use a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

   Heat the Lower Edge

   Apply a heated iOpener or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the iPhone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

   Attach Suction Cup

   Place a suction cup onto the lower half of the display glass, just above the Lightning port.

   Insert Opening Pick

   Pull up on the suction cup to create a small gap at the bottom edge, then insert an opening pick into the gap.

   Slice Bottom Edge Adhesive

   Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge of the phone to cut through the water-resistance adhesive.

   Slice Left Edge Adhesive

   Slide the pick around the lower-left corner and up the left side of the iPhone to separate the adhesive.

   Slice Right Edge Adhesive

   Slide the pick along the right edge of the screen, stopping before you reach the top corner to avoid damaging display cables.

   Open Display Assembly

   Gently swing the display open from the left edge like the cover of a book. Rest it against a stable support so it stays upright without straining the cables.

    Unscrew Bracket Screws

    Use a Tri-point Y000 driver to remove the five screws securing the logic board connector bracket.

    Remove Connector Bracket

    Use tweezers to lift out the metal logic board bracket and set it aside.

    Disconnect Battery Connector

    Use the pointed end of a spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

    Disconnect Display Cable

    Pry the OLED panel cable connector straight up from its board socket using a spudger.

    Disconnect Digitizer Cable

    Use a spudger to pry the digitizer flex cable connector straight up from the board.

    Disconnect Front Sensor Assembly Cable

    Disconnect the front sensor assembly flex cable from its logic board socket.

    Separate Display Assembly

    Lift the display assembly away from the rear case and place it in a safe, clean location.

    Peel Lower Adhesive Tabs

    Locate the three adhesive pull tabs along the bottom edge of the battery and peel back the black tape covers.

    Pull First Bottom Adhesive Strip

    Slowly pull the first adhesive strip flat away from the bottom edge of the battery until it releases completely.

    Pull Second Bottom Adhesive Strip

    Gently pull the second lower adhesive strip at a low angle until it slides out beneath the battery.

    Pull Top Adhesive Strip

    Peel back and slowly pull the top adhesive tab located near the upper corner of the battery until free.

    Remove Old Battery

    Lift the battery out of the rear enclosure. If stuck, apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol around the edges and wait two minutes before prying gently with a plastic tool.

    Clean Battery Bay

    Apply isopropyl alcohol to a lint-free cloth and wipe away any lingering adhesive residue from the battery well.

    Apply New Adhesive Strips

    Peel the protective backing off new battery adhesive strips and press them firmly onto the backside of the replacement battery.

    Install Replacement Battery

    Align the replacement battery in the enclosure and press down firmly to secure the adhesive into place.
