Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the Sleep/Wake button, then slide to power off the device completely.

Remove the pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.6 mm screws located at the bottom edge of the phone.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower screen assembly, just above the home button.

Pry open the display
3 minPull up on the suction cup while gently prying the rear case away from the display with a plastic spudger.

Remove the battery bracket screws
2 minRemove the two Phillips #000 screws securing the metal battery connector bracket to the logic board.

Disconnect the battery
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the battery connector from its socket on the logic board.

Remove the display cable bracket
3 minRemove the five Phillips #000 screws securing the display cable bracket, then lift the bracket out.

Disconnect the display cables
3 minDisconnect the front camera, home button, display, and digitizer cables from the logic board using a spudger.

Separate the display assembly
1 minSet the screen display assembly aside completely to prevent damage while working on the lower case.

Remove the loudspeaker screws
3 minRemove the six Phillips #000 screws holding the loudspeaker assembly to the bottom of the enclosure.

Remove the loudspeaker
2 minGently pry up and lift the loudspeaker assembly out of the rear case.

Disconnect the antenna cable
2 minUse tweezers or a spudger to pop the lower antenna cable off its connector on the Lightning assembly.

Remove the charging port screws
3 minRemove the remaining Phillips #000 screws securing the Lightning port assembly and headphone jack.

Peel up the charging port assembly
4 minGently pry the adhesive-backed Lightning connector flex cable away from the aluminum rear case.

Install the new charging port assembly
4 minAlign the replacement Lightning connector assembly into place and press firmly to adhere it to the case.
