Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to power down the iPhone 11 Pro completely.

Remove bottom pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.7 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat lower display edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer on low power to the bottom edge of the screen for 90 seconds to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup and pull display
2 minPress a suction cup onto the bottom center of the screen, then pull upward with firm pressure to create a small gap.

Slice perimeter display adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the bottom gap and slide along the left and right edges to cut through the display adhesive.

Open screen sideways
1 minGently swing the display open from the left edge like a book. Support the display screen so it does not pull on the flex cables.

Remove lower bracket screws
2 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the lower metal connector bracket.

Disconnect battery press connector
1 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up off the logic board socket.

Disconnect display cables
2 minDisconnect the display and digitizer flex cables with a spudger, then remove the display assembly from the frame.

Remove lower speaker bracket screws
2 minUse Phillips #000 and Y000 drivers to remove the mounting screws securing the lower speaker and vent assembly.

Remove lower speaker module
2 minGently pry up under the edge of the lower speaker assembly with a spudger and remove it from the phone.

Unscrew Taptic Engine
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the Taptic Engine unit to the phone frame.

Disconnect Taptic Engine ribbon connector
1 minPry the Taptic Engine's press connector straight up off its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

Lift out old Taptic Engine
1 minUse tweezers or fingers to lift the original Taptic Engine out of the rear enclosure.

Install replacement Taptic Engine
2 minSet the new Taptic Engine into place, attach its flex connector, and secure it using the original mounting screws.
