Step-by-step

Power Off Device
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to power off the iPhone completely.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.7 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat Bottom Edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the screen assembly, just above the home indicator area.

Pry Bottom Display Edge
2 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a narrow gap between the display panel and the outer enclosure frame.

Slice Display Adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it along the bottom and side edges to cut through the waterproof adhesive.

Open Display Assembly
2 minSwing the display open from the left edge like a book cover. Rest it vertically against a solid object to avoid straining flex cables.

Unscrew Logic Board Bracket
2 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the screws holding the lower metal cover bracket over the battery connector.

Remove Metal Cover Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift and remove the metal bracket covering the battery press connector.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up off its logic board socket.

Unscrew Loudspeaker Mounts
2 minUse Phillips #000 and Y000 drivers to remove the mounting screws securing the lower speaker assembly to the housing.

Remove Speaker Grounding Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to gently unhook and lift off the small grounding bracket positioned over the top corner of the loudspeaker.

Lift Out Loudspeaker
2 minInsert a plastic spudger beneath the edge of the loudspeaker assembly and pry it up from the rear housing.

Position New Loudspeaker
2 minLower the replacement loudspeaker into the housing compartment and press gently until it aligns flush with the screw posts.

Reconnect Battery Cable
1 minAlign the battery press connector over its socket on the logic board and press down gently until it snaps into place.
