   Turn off the iPhone

   Press and hold the side button and volume button, then slide to power off the device completely.

   Remove bottom Pentalobe screws

   Use a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.7 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

   Heat the display bottom edge

   Apply a heated pad or heat gun to the lower edge of the screen for two minutes to soften the waterproof adhesive.

   Attach suction cup to the screen

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the glass display, just above the Lightning port.

   Insert an opening pick

   Pull up firmly on the suction handle to create a small gap, then slide an opening pick into the seam.

   Slice the perimeter display adhesive

   Slide the pick carefully around the bottom, left, and right edges of the phone to cut through the seal.

   Open the display panel

   Swing the screen open from the right edge toward the left side like a book cover.

   Remove the battery connector cover screws

   Unscrew the two Y000 tri-point screws holding the lower metal shield over the battery connector.

   Disconnect the battery

   Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket.

    Remove the display bracket screws

    Remove the six Y000 screws securing the upper logic board shield.

    Disconnect the display cables

    Use a spudger to disconnect the OLED panel flex cable and touch digitizer flex cable.

    Detach the display assembly

    Disconnect the front sensor assembly connector and set the display panel safely aside.

    Remove speaker bracket screws

    Unscrew the five Phillips #000 screws securing the speaker assembly at the bottom of the phone frame.

    Remove the loudspeaker

    Gently lift the speaker unit out of the rear case and remove it from the device.

    Remove Taptic Engine screws

    Remove the three Y000 screws securing the Taptic Engine vibration motor to the frame.

    Remove the Taptic Engine

    Disconnect the Taptic Engine connector with a spudger and lift the unit out.

    Remove lower Lightning port bracket screws

    Unscrew the remaining Phillips and Y000 screws fixing the Lightning port assembly to the lower frame.

    Unfasten microphone retaining screws

    Remove the small metal bracket and screws securing the bottom microphones in their channels.

    Pry up the Lightning port cable

    Insert a flat opening pick under the flex cable to separate it from the underlying frame adhesive.

    Remove the old Lightning assembly

    Carefully lift the entire charging port flex cable assembly out of the phone body.

    Position the new Lightning port assembly

    Align the new charging port unit in the bottom of the enclosure and press the adhesive strips flat.

    Secure the new Lightning port screws

    Reinstall all lower screws and metal brackets to hold the microphones and Lightning connector in place.

    Reinstall the Taptic Engine

    Seat the Taptic Engine into position, connect its press connector, and secure its retaining screws.

    Reinstall the loudspeaker

    Place the loudspeaker unit back into the lower housing and tighten its securing screws.

    Connect the display assembly

    Reconnect the front sensor and display flex cables to the logic board, then reattach their shield plate.

    Reconnect the battery

    Press the battery connector into its socket and reinstall the metal battery bracket.

    Apply fresh display adhesive seal

    Clean remaining old glue with isopropyl alcohol and lay a new perimeter adhesive strip along the frame edge.

    Secure the display and bottom screws

    Align the top screen clips, press the display flush into the frame, and reinstall the two P2 Pentalobe screws.
